18/3/2010: The B grade 2 mixed team had its first loss for the season against PEGS, but it was a great night for tennis, and hopefully next meeting with PEGS, and out champion player back in, we should fair better.

18/3/2010: The C grade 1 mixed team also had a loss to the top of the table Maribynong Park, so a bad night for NSTC, all hopes for next week.

15/3/2010: SEMI FINALS SENIORS:- Father & Son combination of John & Matt Harvey had a close battle to ward off Our Ladys which we were hoping to be an all North Sunshine affair in the pennant 5 Grand Final but let it slip to Yarraville after a flying start of 2 sets to love....lets say no more on the subject! SECTION 5: Vinh Tran, Erden Karakurt & Nazim Midal & Josh White (emerg) had tough battle against Liston tieing on sets and games and then winning the deciding set

SECTION 15 Christian Makiling, Jennifer/Jervis Nguyen, Michael/Ken Ho lost their final against St Albans

SUNDAY SECTION 2: Jeremy Marr (Injured), Nguyen Huynh, & Ricky & Peter Ta had a close tussle against arch rivals Albion and snared a spot in the grand final.

1/1/2014: We are having our open day on the 18th January 130 to 430 with a special guest appearance by Chris Guccione (Subject to Australian Open/Davis Cup commitments)A bbq will be provided for gold coin donation.

28/8/2012: The club is holding a working bee on the 9th September between 10 and 4pm. All Members are encouraged to come along and spend a couple of hours to  help out. Many Hands make light work. We will be providing a free bbq lunch for members attending.Attendance of this working bee will contribute towards your social maintenance fee for next years membership. Please bring along a hard bristled yard broom as the major job will be sweping the courts.

Followed by that is some Defribelator Training for All members starting at 7.15. It is imperative that as many Junior and Senior  & Family/Social members as possible come along to the DeFib Training. Mixed - Requiring 2 Ladies and 2 Men (4 Sets in total / 2 Mens/ladies and 2 Mixed Sets)

5/12/2011: post Christmas Party/Reunion:- from John Harvey (NSTC president) This morning I have received 9 emails thrilled with how well yesterday went and wanting their appreciation past onto the committee ..... We did 96 meals .... just fantastic ... a great crowd

More important than that was the reminiscing, the renewing of old friendships from afternoons long past ... It didn't just happened ... there were literally dozens of jobs and many hours of work that went in by many people to bring it about. I hope you too enjoyed it. I hope you got the chance to mix with some of the pioneers of our club who have given us a chance to enjoy the club we have today. I hope when our time of playing passes we can look back on our era with similar fondness, memories and friendships that were on display yesterday. I'm not going to individualise ... will only leave someone out ... like I did with Dicky yesterday ( who did a marvellous job with the photos so i make one exception) but I do say to so many who worked so diligently on so many various tasks a huge thank you.

Last point, we had a 'reflections book' going around ... a few wrote in it ... some lovely reflections, but certainly the majority didn't. We'd love everyone to contribute so if you haven't the books at the club .. include your contact details, era and reflections.

Thanks so much and to those who have sent emails I will respond individually over the next couple of days.

24/5/2011: GRAND FINALS:- The first week of finals have come which leaves 2 out of 3 teams making it to the Grandfnal. Our Mixed Team of Toni, Pat, Anthea, John, Nick & Damian just missed out by one solitary game.

This week we see on Tuesday Ladies of Toni, Michelle, Pat, Hayley & Deb fight for it against Buckley Park at Hillside
Hillside is at Parkwood Green (Off Commmunity Hub 356 J1)

On thursday our mens teams of Peter, Nick, Ovi, John with Chris H on the sidelines fight for a back to flag against West Brunswick at Hadfield (Charles Street enter from Middle Street - 17 C 3)

Please come along and support our guys and girls with plenty of the North Sunshine Spirit..

15/5/2011: Our club was deeply saddened by the passing of Ryan John Riggio. Ryan has been such a brave young man overcoming many battles in his 9 mths of life ... repeatedly overcoming odds the medical world never thought he could. Those close to the Riggio's have no doubt Ryan's bravery emanated from his incredible parents ... our dear friends John and Angela who kept a 9 mth beside vigil. Ryan could not have hoped to have been born into a more magnificent family. To John and Ange, Ryan's Uncle and Aunty Damian and Vicki and his grandparents we offer all our love and prayers during this most difficult of times.

1/1/2011: HAPPPY NEW YEAR! A new year, and new lot of teams, some teams go up a grade some down, and a fresh start for some potential Djokovic's or Clijster's. I am sure we are all looking forward to a great year ahead, but remember most of all, have FUN!

NSTC has some great new plans for this year including extensions to clubroom and courts, new attire, club history records, and a raft of new things on the horizon. If you have any ideas you think may benefit the club, let one of our committee members know, we are always interested in new ideas and members to help out.

24/5/2011:- Bunnings BBQ:- On Sunday we had our third bbq at Bunnings with two more to go and excuse my photography skills but managed to snap a couple of shots for the archives. Overall we had a fairly successful day and thank you to many of our club members who donated some time throughout the day apologies if i have omitted anyone: (pic1, pic2)

3/12/2010: THURSDAY NIGHT MENS TEAM WIN PREMIERSHIP IN C SPECIAL 3: What a night it was last night with the boys after a very slow start came home with a sail beating West Coburg who only three weeks ago had given them a tennis lesson. Congratulations to the President who got the team off to a great start losing 6-1 in the first set. Fantastic effort from the rest of the team to recover from that appalling start and in the end we had a great win. Well done to Peter Medancic, Ovi Stoican, Chris Humbert, Nick Thompson and Simon Nisiphorou on a great season culminating on winning the ultimate prize.

We've had great recent success with our mixed team winning a premiership last season. Next season we have five Senior teams being entered into the NSNTA. Well done to all and special thanks to Nick Thompson and his match committee for the ungreatful task they perform season in season out getting our teams on the courts.

3/12/2010: LADIES NIGHT TENNIS BRINGS HOME THE BACON
Congratulations to Toni Rule, Jacquie Zahra, Michelle Medancic and Amada Auger on beating West Brunswick on Tuesday night in the GRAND FINAL. The ladies had a wonderfully successful season only losing one match. Hayley Willis and Deb Nuredini also made great contributions to the team throughout the season.

15/6/2010: Queens Birthday Weekend Tournament:- What a fantastic day had by all. That so many turned out on a long weekend that was,-  preceded by three days of rain including rain on the morning of the tournament and was the opening of the ski season is just fantastic. 

The tournament was won by our Life members daughter Samantha Scott and Richard Rule. Runners up were Kyra Rule and Tony Harvey. Congratulations to all players on a fantastic day. We thank John and Robyn Scott for their work in making this tournament possible. Most importantly this tournament recognized the marvelous work of Joff and the late Nancy Scott both life members. All current members are indebted to these two stalwarts of the club that kept it alive during tough times. Without the dedication of these two great Life members none of us would have the marvelous club we do today. That their lovely granddaughter won the tournament is so fitting.

Our club's Life Member John Scott is planning a tournament in early September between the winter and summer season. Keep an eye on the website and the 'Big Serve' for further details.

31/5/2010: Congragulations to the Wednesday night team mixed team, after a cold but great night of tennis, they scraped in by 2 games to win the flag over PEGS, in a friendly but tight tussle. The club will look forward to another flag to be put up in the clubrooms!

19/5/2010: Members of our club are well aware of  Richard's great act of love and gift of life to his uncle Bill some five years ago where he donated his kidney to him. We well remember the donor battled with the recovery more than the recipient. That did not deter Dicky's determination to give his uncle a second chance at life and that he did. All of us at North Sunshine Tennis Club pass on our deepest sympathies to all the Richard, his Parents, Toni and their children at this sad time. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.The Requiem Mass will be held Tuesday next 25th of May at St Marys, 204 Grimshaw St Greensborough at 11 AM.

9/4/2010: A great time was had by all at Cohuna with some winners and runners up over the weekend. Well done to John Riggio and Mick Lehane who won the open mens doubles title. Other winners were Jack in the mixed, and Kath and Neil who came runners up, Kyra won the section 3 girls doubles, Toni runners up in section 3 ladies round robin. 22/3/2010: Work has started on the 2 new courts this morning, almost two years to the day when we had our first meeting with council. The official programme of works suggest this is a six week project ... but workers suggested this morning it would be completed much quicker than that (potentially 3 - 4 wks). Exciting times for the NSTC club!

16/3/2010: It is with great sadness a life member of the NSTC, Mrs Nancy Scott has passed. Nancy was a tireless worker around our club during some very lean times. She is a highly respected Life Member. Deepest sympathies to Nancy's husband Joff (also a Life Member), John, Robyn and Gaye and the whole Scott family. The Funeral Service for Nancy Scott will be held in our Sunshine Funeral Home 51 Devonshire Rd, Sunshine on WEDNESDAY (March 17th 2010) commencing at 10.30am and then back to the club later for Refreshments.

15/10/2010: Old Mans tennis: Update on Old Mans Tennis that we currently had 8 – 12 Regular Members coming along on Tuesday Afternoons. Great effort well done Neil and Jack. New people are always welcome, just pop down to the club on Tuesday Afternoon around 2.30pm and ask for Jack or Neil.

24/5/2010: The new courts are now in and ready to be played on. The first test run was last Saturday the 22nd of May. Our new courts hosted their first hit and official match. The courts played very well, albeit a little slow which is to be expected. All members are most welcome to come down and try out this fantastic addition to our facilities. We do ask all members to use courts 3 & 4 first to spread the wear and tear.
